I am a British based, UK citizen with US Dual Nationality. I currently live in Bradford on Avon, Wiltshire, but also have bases in London and Rhode Island, USA. I worked for 20 years as an Actor, then Movement Tutor, grounded in my Theatre roots and love of Literature. In 2010 my focus shifted and since have worked as a Movement DirectorMovement, Character & Performance Coach and Motion Capture Director working in Film, TV, Animation, VR and Theatre. I can also be called upon as Movement Coordinator, coordinating a team of varied Movement specialists for larger projects & productions.

I am currently working as Movement Coach on ‘The Salt Path’, for Number 9 Films. Recent projects include Movement Coach on a upcoming 6 part TV drama ‘The Burning Girls’ for Paramount+/Buccaneer Media and for a high profile Warner Bros/Universal project TBA in 2024. I was Motion Capture Director for 3 VR films for the Illinois Holocaust Museum with East City Films, released later this year. Other recent projects include Movement Director for Cinematic VR project ‘In Pursuit of Repetitive Beats’, currently touring in the UK, Europe & USA, centred on the 80’s rave scene with East City Films written & directed by award winning Director Darren Emerson. I was also Movement Coach on ‘His Dark Materials’ Season 3, eps 4-7 for Bad Wolf/BBC released earlier this year.

Further credits include Movement & Performance Director for ‘Dream’ based on Shakespeare’s ‘A Midsummer Nights Dream‘ a Live Motion Capture/Online Virtual Production for The Royal Shakespeare Company. Movement Coach on ‘A Discovery of Witches’ Season 2 & 3 for Bad Wolf/Sky One, ‘Jupiter Ascending’ directed by The Wachowskis and on ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’, directed by James Gunn.

I have coached many Actors, Movers, Dancers, Animators and Musicians in Film, TV and Theatre & Live Performance liaising with Directors, VFX Supervisors, Stunt Coordinators, Composers and all heads of departments. I have worked with various renowned VFX/Animation companies to assist their animation teams as Acting & Performance Coach, working with Motion Capture, CG and Stop Motion Performance, collaborating with; Jellyfish Pictures, Framestore, MPC, Double Negative, and Aardman, amongst others.

When not in rehearsals, on set or on location you’ll probably find me on the Yoga mat. I am a Yoga Teacher & Yoga Therapist, (www.sarahperry.yoga) and have taught Movement for Actors at numerous UK Drama schools and Universities over the years as well as teaching Acting & Character Movement for Animators nationally and internationally since 2008. I am the founder of Shapes in Motion, a company dedicated to the professional development and training of all movers & makers of movement.

• BA (Hons) in Dance and Drama with English Literature, DeMontfort University, Bedford (dissertation interest: Stanislavski and Laban)

• Introduction Certificates in both Laban Movement Analysis and Bartenieff Fundamentals, The Laban Institute of Movement Studies, New York
• Various Laban & Choreological courses, including London Metropolitan University with Sabine Fichter and Trinity Laban with Rosemary Brandt.
• The Young Vic Youth Theatre, training under Directors such as David Thacker and Chris White

I take ongoing classes in Yoga, Anatomy & Physiology, Laban, Choreology, Choreography, Physical Theatre, Devising, Movement for Actors, Animal Behaviour & Zoology.

I’m a member of The British Wheel of Yoga (BWY), CNHC, Spotlight, and The Actors Equity Union and also a Fellow member of ZSL (Zoological Society of London).
