Sarah is the founder of Shapes in Motion, offering specialist movement & performance workshops and events to professional actors and performers led by various movement practitioners, theatre companies and movement professionals, including amongst others; Complicite, Gecko, Trestle, Toby Sedgwick and Russell Maliphant. Her goal is to raise the profile of movement in all areas of storytelling and performance. Shapes in Motion supports both emerging & established artists & creatives. Sarah co-ordinates the Shapes in Motion ‘Movers & Makers’ Troupe, a troupe of professional actors & movers with a diverse range of movement specialisms, who can be called upon for Film, TV, Theatre & other work. MOVEMENT DIRECTOR, MOVEMENT CHOREOGRAPHER,
PERFORMANCE COACH & DIRECTOR

SARAH PERRY is a UK-based Movement Director and Movement & Performance Coach working across Film, High-End Television, Animation, VR and immersive productions. She collaborates with directors, producers, actors and animators to craft physically driven storytelling, shaping character, creature and world through movement from development through to final performance.

Her work spans Movement Direction, Choreography and Performance Coaching, and she is frequently engaged on large-scale, VFX-heavy productions, designing movement languages, integrating performance with VFX pipelines, and building and leading specialist teams across cast, stunt, creature and motion capture departments.

Sarah’s expertise includes actor preparation, character embodiment, creature and non-human performance, performance capture/motion capture direction, movement choreography and large-scale ensemble and crowd work. She works closely with actors, stunt teams and animators to ensure continuity of performance across physical and digital environments, bridging live action and animation.

Her credits include His Dark Materials (BBC), The Burning Girls (Paramount+), A Discovery of Witches (Sky), Guardians of the Galaxy (dir. James Gunn) and Jupiter Ascending (dir. the Wachowskis), alongside collaborations with directors including Jeff Fowler, David Fincher and Marianne Elliott. She was Movement & Motion Capture Director on the VR project In Pursuit of Repetitive Beats and Performance Director on the Royal Shakespeare Company’s live virtual production Dream and Movement Director for  Wizarding World of Harry Potter-Ministry of Magic, Universal Epic Universe, Orlando, (dir. Thierry Coup). 

Sarah is the founder of Shapes in Motion and host of its podcast, and works as a Yoga Therapist, supporting sustainable, embodied  performance for cast.



TRAINING:
Working in Television – RADA (2006), One Year Acting – The Oxford School of Drama (1997), BA (Hons) Dance and Drama with English Literature – De Montfort University, Bedford (1996). Sarah was a member of The Young Vic Youth Theatre, headed by then Artistic Director David Thacker.
Sarah is a qualified and practicing Yoga Teacher and Yoga Therapist with over a 1500  hours of teacher training credits. She continues her studies in Yoga Therapy, Human and Creature Anatomy & Physiology, Laban Movement Analysis, Choreology, Devising, Movement for Actors, Animal studies, Stanislavski and Voice. Sarah is a fellow member of the ZSL, with a passion for animal welfare and conservation.
